Roughly three weeks after welcoming another baby into our family, you wouldn’t imagine that a holiday is on the cards. Well, as it turns out — we did and we are.
On the 28th of December, 2022 we welcomed Austin Sanders into our family.
Three weeks later, we’re off on our first family trip as a family of five.
We decided for four nights at Lake Crackenback up in the Snowy Mountains, not far from Thredbo. We’d vacationed there for the first time last year, and the kids really enjoyed all the activities the resort has to offer. From a parental perspective, the ~3 hours drive was a big motivator!
So off we went.. a Friday 20 of January .. staying four nights and returning on Tuesday 24 of January.
This time around we started with a booking for a standard mountain chalet but at the last minute decided to upgrade to a Deluxe (which is better than the Superior Chalet enjoyed last year).
We departed around 12:30pm and made our way up and though Bemboka to Brown Mountain.
We continue through Nimmitabel and on to Cooma.
Making better time than our last attempt (and with far better weather), we passed through Berridale then Jindabyne before making the resort at around 3:45pm. The check in process is smooth and easy, and we are on our way towards the mountain, pass the lake and this time closer to the Skitube (NW). This Deluxe Chalet turns out to have two living areas, and upstairs master bedroom (with ensuite), a full kitchen and front and rear decks. The front having wrap round floor to ceiling glass sliding doors, a Bose surround system and a hall length dining table, a chaise lounge and second two seater and gas fireplace.
Not long after unpacking and we’re off to Jindabyne. Although we had brought quite a lot of food, we missed a couple of items which thankfully Woolworths in town had.
Returning to the resort, we made dinner watched some TV and then danced with the midnight baby. The next day would be our first proper day on holidays.
