Go Karts in HangZhou

Posted On By Rob

P3150022 Today we went to north HangZhou to the car sales district for a few rounds of Go Karting.  You have to love this city.. Ice Skating, Go Karting.. so many fun activities!  We caught a taxi out with our friend David after a lunch at Panchos Mexican on our home street of Gudun Lu.  The Go Kart facility is actually on the TOP FLOOR of a eight storey building.

Housed in the “Car City” building, the track is reached by a lift at the rear of the building.  Signage is predominantly in Mandarin with *some* English.  Getting there is recommended in a Cab, other options seem somewhat limited, but it’s near Moganshan Lu, so you could get a bus to the vicinity.  Upon entering, they have a very nice reception area, a bar and lounge with heaps of (expensive) pool tables.

It’s a bit pricey, we went through about 600 RMB between three people for about 5 races, plus one last race for the person with the best overall time (me).  My personal best was probably 43.73, but we’ll never know because my last two laps were counted together owing to a bug in the track timekeeping (two laps at 1:27:46).

If you could beat a time of 0:42:50s then you got to race in the “fast” kart, although none of us managed to do so – it was terribly hard to make it around in less than 0:43:00s.

We all had a load of fun and made decent times too, with nearly all of us improving our best times each race.  One of the karts was a little slower in terms of acceleration, confirmed by myself and David in separate races.  The final race had a prize: whomever had the best time got to race once more (alone) with our single remaining ticket.  I beat David by 0.09 milliseconds (0:43:81 besting David’s 0:43:90) to claim victory.

Recommended if you have the extra RMB to spare..  Even better if you have a large group of people to race against.
