Japan’s State of Emergency

Posted On By Rob

We are extremely saddened by the events unfolding in Japan, and concerned for the welfare of those people in the vicinity of the nuclear reactors which may or may not be in a state of meltdown.  The Japanese people are showing true courage in the face of mortal danger, it is encouraging to see a country which has not immediately fallen prey to panic and has remained remarkably cool in the face of such danger and adversity.

It was only a few weeks ago, in late January, that we both visited Tokyo with friends.  It is hard to imagine Tokyo now, in the wake of such ferocious and horrendous earthquakes which quite literally have ripped through northern Japan.  In case you aren’t sure, we are still in southern China and I thought I might put a map up showing our proximity to the unfolding nuclear crisis in northern Japan – hopefully to allay any fears – as we are quite a long way from mainland Japan (easily over 2,000 kms).

We hope that the danger and other earth tremors will subside as soon as possible, and the people directly affected are in our thoughts, even as we prepare to leave China early next week (not due to recent events).
