Well, we’re slowly winding down the year here in China. As you may or may not be aware, China doesn’t do anything special for Christmas (which is fair enough, it isn’t a Christian country, so why should they?) so we’re running a little low on Christmas spirit at the moment.
Being away from family and friends is tough enough without the usual holiday trimmings. Anyway, we are surviving as best we can; it’s particularly tough because we’re trying to figure out what to do with our lives. This has been made harder (in terms of search for new jobs) due to companies taking time off around Christmas.
So it’s going to be a hard Christmas and a sober new years. We don’t know what the future holds, we only know two things –
- We’re going to Japan in January,
- Our rent is paid up until Jan 31st
So that’s all we have to work with. We’re looking in the local region (Asia-Pacific) for work first (being that the region is generally not on holidays at the moment) and later we’ll expand to include the U.S, Australia and Europe (once the holiday season passes).
By default (more than anything) I think if we don’t have any clear direction by mid-January then we’ll likely have to pay a visit back to Australia. We’ll just have to wait it out.
Anyhow… all the best from us to you on this holiday and hope you have a safe and pleasant new year!
