Day 9 – Ballarat

Boxing Day in Ballarat.

Whilst the rest of the country battled it out in the annual boxing day sales, we kicked back and relaxed.

I’d been up late the previous night doing some Vinyl research, when I stumbled upon some information about a record which I’d seen in some of my crate diving earlier in the week.  I strongly suspected that I had seen (and put back) the album at the Daylesford Mill (vintage markets), so after breakfast we made a move back to Daylesford  – The Mill being open all days except Xmas day.

After an hour and a half of searching, no dice.  I picked up two albums that I’d missed in the previous visit, but felt a bit dejected as we left town.  We stopped to let the boys play at a playground not far from the overwrought iron place that Toni had visited when we went past the last time.  We took a trip back to Ballarat via Dean, and ate lunch at the resort.  On the way home I had an epiphany, and realized it was likely “The Vintage Loft” in Bacchus Marsh where I’d seen the illusive rare LP.  I contacted the owners via Facebook chat (and email) and confirmed.  They did not open again until Wednesday, so a day of waiting..

The early afternoon was spent building Lego for the boys, and giving Toni a well deserved rest.

In the afternoon, we walked the resort grounds again, feeding the swans and baby cygnets.  We hit the pool later, and then had cooked dinner and had an early night.
