Jake 2.0

Posted On By Rob

The title says it all really, he is like a whole new baby.  Little Jake has developed in leaps and bounds, and doesn’t even remotely resemble the hurt and sore bub we met early on Monday morning.  He is now a bonafide bouncing baby with parents who are pleased as punch.  It only took him just over two days to take to bottle feeding, and feeding from the source.  His feeding cord will be removed tomorrow, and that’s the last of his appendages – I think he’ll be home in no time, perhaps even on the weekend.

Since I’m writing, I’d like to extend a heartfelt thanks to all our friends and family who gave us so much love and support this week, when the situation looked quite bleak.  I hate to call out specific individuals, because the thoughtfulness and generosity has been so widespread and universal, however… I don’t think we could have fared half as well without the support of both my parents, who moved heaven and Earth this week to help give Jake a stable environment to recover in.  We love you guys!  Additional thanks to my sister Lauren and her husband Dave, who provided so much support last weekend, we hope their trip to New Zealand has been a blast!

We’ve also had regular talks with my family plus friends like Paul, Will, Sandra, Lid, Kent and Ross, plus reassuring conversations with Toni’s family and her extended family with Chris and Graeme Gill.  To my workmates, thank you for all your support this week (and the flowers!) – it’s been the toughest week in living memory but everyone’s been especially supportive and understanding.

Can’t go thanking people without a huge call out to our former Ticketek colleagues, in particular Scott, Doris, Cathy, Bartek, Troy and Andrew – the flowers were amazing.  Special thanks to all those encouraging and supportive messages on Facebook and Twitter – and here on the blog.  Apologies if I missed anyone, it’s been a crazy week and I honestly have trouble remembering it all.  We really appreciate all the support.

Finally, our gratitude to so many supportive staff at Calvary Hospital in Bruce.  The Birthing Suite staff, and the Maternity ward staff in particular have been just lovely, so supportive and helpful, and have imparted a wealth of knowledge in such a short timeframe.  I know that Jake certainly has improved profoundly through the care at Calvary.

That’s all now, or I’m going to become a blubbering mess, which isn’t very manly of me. 😀

Best.. R
