Today was a brilliant, beautiful day in Canberra, so it was no surprise to learn that the evening followed suit. At about eleven thirty late at night, with the air crisp and refreshing, we jumped into my car and took it for a spin around the city.
We cruised through the city on Northbourne Avenue across the hill and over the Commonwealth Bridge to the steps of Parliament House. From here we back tracked past the former Parliament, and took photos “on the run”.
Crossing back over Lake Burley Griffin via Kings Avenue Bridge, we tailed across the foreshore, past Anzac Parade and stopped briefly near Commonwealth Park to take in the sight of the well lit Carillion beaming from the shore.
Throwing the car into a low gear, we headed west on Parkes Avenue and then traced a sharp right hand before Black Mountain, to take an upwards journey to the foot of the Black Mountain Tower. After skirting the monumental tower, we descended and made for home.
Not a bad way to spend a summer’s night in the nation’s capital..
