On Saturday we had driven out to Fyshwick to purchase some infant products for young Jake. On our way back home we drove past a beautifully lit lake Burley Griffin, and decided to deviate for a sunny stroll by the lake.
It was stunningly well framed for a winter’s day, blue skies and only the hint of a few scattered clouds pockmarking the sky. We walked from just beneath the Anzac parade roundabout, and headed down to the shore.
We traced the edge of the lake to about half way along the fringe of nearby Commonwealth Park (to the west). Here we entered the park and made our way to the Nerang pool. Jake had an opportunity to be introduced to his first swan – a friendly black swan who thought we might have bread.
After a quick nappy change on a park bench, we continued our journey back towards the lake side, taking in the setting sun as it started to descend on the horizon. Winter can produce some really memorable and beautiful days!
