Hi There,
This post is going to be a short one, as it is almost 2am and we have a relatively early start tomorrow.
Today we started by taking the subway to the grounds of the Imperial Palace which was open for free admission. The grounds are within a large stone walled moat and contain large parks and further medieval fortifications. We saw a number of classical Japanese style palace buildings as well as sculptured gardens.
Afterwards, we headed to the Akihabera area for amazing ramen (lunch) which was a scintillating pork disk. After lunch we hit a maid café, which is a cultural phenomenon in Japan, the waitresses are all dressed in cute Anime maid outfits. There’s nothing dirty or scandalous, it is otherwise a normal café environment, but the girls will play games and dance a little.
We then hit the comic and anime stores before locating a games arcade for some entertainment. Once finished, we jumped on the subway back to Shinjuku and dinner at Okono miakia. After dinner, we explored the night life and neon lights of Shinjuku as well as posing for photos in the middle of one of the busy roads.
Tomorrow we are flying to Sapporo for four days of skiing or snowboarding. Internet access is very likely going to be an issue, so you may not hear more until we return on the 26th or 27th.
Cheers.. R
