G’day Guys,
Well, today we offered up our bodies to the snowboarding gods.
They promptly issued a refund. No, it was fine, we had quite a time of it.
We got out of the hostel and up to the chairlift area by about 9am. We put a bag into a locker and bought 4 fay lift passes, and went on a hunt for snowboarding lessons. This turned out to be a daunting task as most places were fully booked. We ended up taking the shuttle bus to the welcome centre and eventually signing on with NISA.
From 10am to 3:30pm (with a one hour lunch break) we had group lessons in the introductory level. It was superbly executed, and we learnt A LOT on the first day alone. By the end of the day we had traversed our first significant green run (Kogen) which was accessed by tandem chairlift (which you can see in the photos).
After we got back to the hostel, I had to lie down for an hour as I took a nasty spill on the last run, but with some extra rest was OK to proceed to dinner at “JoJos” which consisted of chicken pie and spare ribs – delicious!
Tomorrow is our second class, and we will be learning more advanced techniques on the green run, including the ‘Chicken Run’.
