Chinese New Year–The real deal (part 2)

Happy new year everyone!  新年快乐

We hiked up the side of a mountain near Xixi Lu to get good photos of the West Lake, alas there was nothing going on!  The real action was back in Xuhu district (where we live), so on midnight, we observed the most outstanding fireworks I‘ve ever seen – more fireworks simultaneously fired in a single place at the same time.

Once we made it back down to the e-bike, we roared around the empty streets heading back to our estate.  We caught some late fireworks near our apartment, before returning to our place.  Even as I type there are yet more fireworks going off – it’s amazing.   Here are a selection of photos from our Chinese New Year:
