Back in the Australian Capital

Posted On By Rob

Well, it’s been a while between posts, so I thought I’d better write up a bit of a run down about what’s been going on lately.

As you probably know, we’re expecting out first child in early 2012, which led us to move back to our hometown, Canberra in early November, 2011.  Toni’s finished working, and is gearing up and enduring her third trimester, getting ready for all the happenings of early 2012.

I’ve gone to work for a company called CGI, a large (over 30,000 employees world wide) international consulting and engineering firm, and I’m currently working for the Department of Climate Change and Energy in the Canberra City area.  All is well, although it turns out that I’ve outgrown two of my five business suits – so more added expense trying to “fill the void” (pun intended).

We’ve moved into a four bedroom house in Bruce, not far from Canberra Stadium (home of the ACT Brumbies) and I’ve actually signed up for two Brumbies memberships for the 2012 season.  We’re fully unpacked and now getting into the groove of things.

Living back in Canberra is a major contrast from living in Sydney, and fundamentally different from our live in HangZhou (China).  It’s going to take some getting used to, the whole office and home in the suburbs.

With any luck, we’ll stay put for 12-36 months, until our little bub gets to a more manageable age.  From there, I don’t know where we’ll go, but for now.. we’re good, hearty Canberrans once again.  Let the Christmas period commence in earnest!
