On Saturday, we went down to the West Lake area for lunch, coffee and a long discussion with a
former colleague of mine whom I used to work with in 2005 in Vancouver. The day started off nice
and blue, with vibrant colours.
However, by mid-afternoon it became overcast and we endured a late afternoon storm which
lasted a few hours. Before an early dinner, I managed to snap a few photos which I have posted
here for your enjoyment.
The first picture is part of the area along Beishan Lu where we had lunch at a C-Straits. As you can
see, it was well into the over cast part of the afternoon.
The next two photos are of local HangZhou wildlife, who came to greet us during our lunch. The
first, a finch of some kind was on the hunt for leftovers, the second – surprisingly – a medium sized
lizard who came out to grab a bite to eat (a rare sighting).
The last two photos are of the lake, the first shows the enclosure for the ducks and other water foul, with the downtown city area as a backdrop. The second photo is a telephoto shot of a lotus flower amidst the greenery of HangZhou’s famous Lotus plants (which rest atop the scenic West Lake).
I like the blog. The only thing that I don’t like is that I didn’t find it earlier.
