Completing our journey, here are some parting shots from our time in Shanghai earlier in our trip.
Nanjing rd – Shopping Precinct Toni outside Jinma Tower
Shanghai is typical of a large International city, impersonal and expensive, and lacks the character of smaller cities like Hangzhou.
View from Jinmao Tower Shanghai Planning and Exhibition Building
Whilst there is plenty to occupy a visitor, it sums to lack an obvious natural wonder or attraction with the exception, perhaps, of the Bund – a river side park which was closed for Expo preparations.
Near old Shanghai Expo 2010 Mascot
With the world Expo on this year, serious attention will focus on this thriving and dynamic modern metropolis. It shall be fun to observe.
That’s all for now. Signing off from somewhere above north western New South Wales (in transit).
