Well it is Monday and as we have become accustomed to it being, well, cold. However, today it is actually snowing.
It’s not quite piling up, but it is certainly falling from the sky. Toni, Matt and Chen have gone out to do various tasks while I am holding down the fort (not that I am complaining at all, it’s nice to be here with two heaters!).
The majority of the home/office/apartment is essentially set up. We’re still waiting on a couple of things, but the fundamentals are in place. We’ve got one of the world’s firmest mattresses – the floor is actually softer – but apparently what was delivered was not what was bought.
We picked up a number of small electrical products last night at the Carrefour (supermarket) which is really a large store that sells everything. In addition to a rice cooker and toaster Toni picked up a hair dryer and we also sourced about 5kgs of rice.
Items generally are quite cheap unless you opt for something considered “luxury” or “export quality” in which case you pay a bit more of a premium. Some items are the same or more expensive here than back in Australia (example, a coffee grinder) although such items are not considered necessities here in China.
Anyways, stay tuned for more fun here at aussietravelguy.com
