Spring hath arrived!

The weather is starting to head towards warmer and sunnier days.  Always welcome after a very cold hard winter, which was always going to be harder for us to bear in our first year back in Canberra.

Quite a bit going on at the moment.  For one thing, we’ve renewed our lease for another 12 months, which means staying put in Canberra for a while longer.  I’m on a new work order at the CER, which runs through into the end of December and next week I’m off to the Gold Coast for Microsoft’s annual developer conference.

Toni and Jake are coming along well, Jake’s nearly over 8kg which is good because he wasn’t gaining enough weight earlier.  Mum and bub are getting around a bit and seem fairly content.  We’re a little bit more organised this year, so much so that we’ve actually gotten ahead on things like our taxes, which get filed this week.

What’s next?  After I get back next week, we’ll be planning a trip up to Sydney possibly to visit my father’s parents in their new residence, and hopefully catch up with my Aunt at the same time.  I think, should the weather hold, it could be a nice time for a visit.

Next month, my sister Lauren’s due for her first baby.  Her baby shower was last Saturday and word has it that the event was quite a success.  I joined the men for 10-pin bowling at the time of the shower, and did OK – 148 & 158 in two games.

Looking ahead.. obviously Christmas will be a monumental event this year as it will be Jake’s first.  It should be interesting to have a full family celebration as we’d departed from that tradition in recent times.  Next year we’ll need to start looking at holiday options – not sure if this will have us holidaying in the local region (Australia) or overseas.

That’s about all for now..  Happy Spring!
