A horror night of howling gale force winds constantly throughout the night meant a night of precious little sleep. The whole chalet could have been lurching back and forth, it was entirely possible. Maybe had about three hours sleep or so.
That said, up and functional at 9am and already chomping a spare panini from Thursday’s breakfast; three eggs and toast. Although checkout wasn’t until midday, we managed to get everything sorted and on the road before 11am
We drove without incident back down through Omeo, Bruthen and east to Orbost (and fuel just slightly before) where we stopped for lunch. We found some weird stores trading but a lot closed, even at 1:20pm on a Saturday afternoon. The local café was ok, they were only doing pre-made meals and it was a little pricey. Afterwards the kids enjoyed a local playground and Toni checked out a local craft market before we returned to the road. We made great time to the border and across and up to Boydtown, just south of Eden. Our destination for the evening is the Seashell Inn.
We have a very nice 3 bedroom villa with a secluded beach frontage. We left the boys and Toni and I wandered back to the main building for a sticky beak, before setting off to the beach to walk the stretch. On the horizon a two masted sail boat was making its way into dock further north. Toni found a lovely pink sea shell, and as we turned to make our way back to the villa, we got lost and ended up having to walk a large length of the highway and back through the main driveway to just make it to the villa on time to prep for dinner.
Dinner at the Inn was excellent, but they were very busy. We sat at 6pm and had mains and dessert. We walked back to the villa as the sun was setting majestically on the western horizon. Toni and Austin and I ended up driving the 10 mins to Eden to get some additional food for the morning, before returning for some quality family time (and blog entries).
