So for some regular readers this might come as no surprise.. or a massive one.
After a long, arduous and terrifyingly long wait, we can now confirm that Toni and I are expecting! The advice we’d been given was to wait until after the twelfth week, after the ultrasound, at which point the risk of miscarriage and other concerns normally abate.
I’m extremely excited to be finally able to “go public” with this long, long awaited news, and to come clean to those who suspected “something was going on”. Some people knew ahead of schedule – it’s hard to keep news of this magnitude a complete secret – but now we’re pleased to be able to announce the news to the world.
Many, many apologies if you are reading (or hearing) this news for the first time, instead of face-to-face. We wanted to tell as many people in person as possible, but due to people’s busy schedules and the convenience of being able to reach many of our friends and family via the Internet, we have decided to at least blog the news.
Toni is in fine health, and the 12 week scan revealed everything is going according to plan. We’re both very excited about the future, and the rough date we’re expecting is around early February, 2012. Whether or not the world ends in 2012, our world will forever be changed!
I’m going to try and blog regular updates as the weeks and months wind us closer and closer to next February. We’re into the second trimester (together, a small team effort?!) and there won’t be much in the ways of news until the second ultrasound in week 19.
So again, many apologies if this news has reached you via the Internet (or word of mouth) but we’d really like to catch up with everyone when we can, and hopefully toast the good news!
Best,
Rob and Toni
